Hi I'm Andrea, also known as CooCoo. I named this blog CooCoo's Brain because, well it can be a bit cuckoo up here. But you may be asking yourself, why do I spell it as CooCoo? It's because my middle name is Chloe, and my parents call me CooCoo for short! It also sounds like the informal word for hello, 'coucou'. Isn't it so fitting?
A little more about me...
I'm a Filipino who grew up in Singapore and went to the French school in Singapore... But I was also born in the US. What a mouthful right?
I formally learned French in Grade 7 when I transferred to the French school, and it's been love at first really weird conjugation!
I'm also a world-class fencer who represents the Philippines all over the world! From places like Saudi Arabia to Japan.
Why did I start this?
Well, I first started out just posting my crochet creations on Instagram, but there were so many photos that I didn't post because I thought they weren't good enough. So, I thought why not have a place where I can dump all my thoughts and projects? I find that a blog is a platform that I have more control over, and I have more creative freedom! Because why should I let the algorithmic overlords determine my fate? Here, I can put whatever I want, and people can see it if they like. They don't necessarily need to see it, but they know it's there at their disposal.
I also just wanted to have a place where I can pay homage to the language that has opened so many doors for me. It's sometimes a love-hate relationship with the language when I have to learn conjugations like past simple tense... But it's all been so much fun discovering different cultural meanings and mannerisms firsthand, and through my own research.
