Dans cette institution, si remarquable sous tous les rapports, il n’est pas un seul ouvrage de femme qui ne soit exécuté avec autant de goût que d’adresse.

OF THE JOURNAL FOR YOUNG LADIES.

Inspired by the desire to please our kind readers*, whose support has so often encouraged me, I have composed or gathered for them works of various kinds which, I hope, will give them many opportunities to practice their skill and to offer charming gifts to their parents and friends.
The designs for crochet and netting are my own; I created them specifically for this Album, with crochet hook and shuttle in hand. As for the knitting patterns, I found very helpful advice at Madame Thiébaut’s institution, on Rue Lacnée. In that institution—remarkable in every way—there is not a single piece of women’s work that is not executed with as much taste as skill.
May this Album of the Journal for Young Ladies bring pleasant entertainment to our talented readers*: that is my dearest wish, and it will also be my sweetest reward.
